日本語能力試験 N1 を日本人が受けてみた。
くまのて英会話教室では、翻訳・研修のときに外国人の方にチームに入ってもらうことがあります。そこで、よく話すのが日本語能力試験についてです。（N1というレベルが１番難しいです。）
「今度、N１を受ける予定です。」、「N1のためにめっちゃ勉強しましたよ！」のような話をよく耳にします。
そこで、今回は日本人の大人3人、子供1人（11歳）で実際のサンプル問題を解いてみることにしました。サンプル問題を解く人数は4人と少ないですが N1を持っていたら、大学での勉強やビジネスは楽々できる？N１の難易度は？などを考察してみます。

性別：女性 職歴：総務、経理 得点 17/18
第一言語としては全体に簡単やけど、間違えた。長文は先に質問を読んでいても、本文を読んでる間にその質問を忘れてしまう。長文と質問を見比べてなんとか解くことができた。聞き取りはすぐ分かったよ。
性別：男性 職歴：サービス業 得点 16/18
とにかく長文が長い。ちゃんと集中してテストを受けないと間違えてしまうなと思った。文章や問題はそんなに難しくないが、情報を頭で整理しながら解かないといけないので、外国人には難しいだろうなと思った。テスト勉強も大切だが、日常会話も同時に学ぶほうが、ビジネスに役立つと思う。
女子 小学生高学年 （11歳） 得点 16/18
思ったより簡単だったけど、難かしいところもあった。長文で、内容を覚えたつもりになっていたところが、実は覚えれていなかった。N１が難しいと聞いていたが激ムズほどではかった。

思っていたより難しい。すごく難しい。地道な努力が必要で、集中力のいるテストなので体調も整えて臨まなければいけない試験。ここまで、日本語を勉強してきた人に拍手。
〇第一言語としては、それほど難しくないテスト。第2言語としては難しい。
〇長文の難易度が他に比べて高いと感じる。（大学入試験や論文では、この程度の長文読解能力が必要だが、ビジネスではここまで必要ない。）
〇資格取得をしていると、良いことがあると思う。それに加えて実生活で、日本語使って楽しんでくれたらと思う。
Japanese take the New Japanese-Language Proficiency Test
I have worked with some foreigners who have a Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) qualification to proceed with certain projects, including translating and face-to-face training of my customers. Sometimes, these people tell me about the JLPT. I often hear statements like, “I’m planning to take the N1” and, “I have been studying Japanese so seriously to pass the N1.”
I came up with a few questions. How difficult is the N1? Is the N1 a practical test of readiness to attend college or conduct business in Japan? I took the N1 test, along with two adults and one child, by answering sample test questions on the JLPT website.

Case 1
Gender: Female. Work experience: Human resources and accounting. Score: 17/18.
This test is not tough for Japanese people who were raised in Japan, but I still made one mistake. In the reading comprehension part, even if I read the question first, I had forgotten it by the time I had read the long text. I managed to answer only by checking the sentences and the question repeatedly. In contrast, the listening part was quite easy for me.
Case 2
Gender: Male. Work experience: Customer service. Score 16/18.
The stories in the reading comprehension part are too long. I recognized that this test requires concentration to avoid making careless mistakes. The sentences and questions were not too difficult for me, but I thought it would be more difficult for non-Japanese because they have to sort a lot of information to be able to answer the questions. Studying for a test is definitely important, but for non-Japanese who would like to get a job in Japan, it is more practical to learn actual conversation along with studying.
Case 3
Gender: Female. Work experience: fifth grade elementary student (age 11). Score 16/18.
The test was easier than I expected. There were some difficult parts. The long sentences were annoying. I thought I had remembered the entire contents, but I had not.
Case 4
Gender: Female. Work experience: Human resources and language trainer.
Score: 18/18.
The test was more difficult than I thought. This test requires steady effort as a language learner. And,in preparation for the big day, maintaining good physical condition is essential. I would like to applaud non-Japanese who have NI qualifications from the bottom of my heart, because they have studied diligently to get it.
Summary
The N1 is easy for ordinary Japanese people, but as a second language test for non-Japanese, it is tough. In particular, the reading comprehension part takes significant time to answer correctly. College entrance exams and research papers require N1 reading ability, but business application does not. Therefore, I recommend that learners enjoy not only getting a high score, but also using Japanese more in daily life!
